Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in or what language you prefer — so you do not have to re-enter it each time. Similar technologies like localStorage work in the same way but store data in your browser rather than sending it back to the server with each request.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other services whose content appears on a page (such as embedded media) are called third-party cookies.
2. Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the platform to function. Without them you cannot log in or maintain a session. They cannot be disabled while using an authenticated account.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| web_access_token | Authenticates your session with the API on each request. | 15 minutes (auto-refreshed) |
| web_refresh_token | Used to silently obtain a new access token when the current one expires, keeping you logged in. | 30 days |
| web_auth | Stores lightweight authentication state so the page can immediately show your logged-in view without waiting for an API round-trip. | Session |
3. Preference Cookies
We use localStorage (not HTTP cookies) to remember your interface preferences so your experience is consistent across visits. This includes your chosen language (e.g. Twi, Ga, Ewe, English) and your selected colour theme (light or dark mode). This data stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
4. Analytics
Where analytics are enabled, we collect anonymised page-view data to understand how the platform is used — which content is most popular, where users drop off, and how navigation flows. Analytics data is aggregated and not linked to individual user accounts or identities. We do not engage in cross-site tracking or build behavioural profiles for advertising purposes.
If a third-party analytics tool is in use, it is configured to respect browser Do Not Track signals and to anonymise IP addresses before storage.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Me Man Ghana (My Country Ghana) uses Cloudinary to deliver images, audio, and video content. When your browser loads media hosted on Cloudinary's CDN, Cloudinary may set performance and caching cookies to optimise delivery speed. These cookies are governed by Cloudinary's own Privacy Policy. We do not control these cookies and they are used solely for content delivery, not for tracking or advertising.
We do not embed third-party social media widgets, advertising scripts, or tracking pixels on the platform.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or be notified before a cookie is stored. You can also clear all existing cookies at any time. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying logged in to Me Man Ghana (My Country Ghana).
The main browsers handle cookie settings in these areas:
- Chrome — Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox — Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari — Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
- Edge — Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data.
To clear only the Me Man Ghana (My Country Ghana) site data without affecting other sites, use the "View site information" or padlock icon in your browser's address bar and look for the Cookies or Site settings option.
